Dame la comida
For some reason I was unable to get the Anthony Bourdain video to play, so I did not get the in depth guide to Chilean food from the grand master. Well that is what I pictured the video to be because that is a cool dude. I did get to watch the other two videos on the dish and wine. And luckily for me, I had to show my mom videos about food to make her feel better about me leaving the country. Surprisingly all the videos about glaciers, earthquakes, and volcanoes didn't put her mind at ease. That being said, I saw a lot of videos on the seafood and fresh produce of Chile. Because the country is so well cultivate that they do not have to rely heavily on chemicals, I want to try as many different foods as possible. Hopefully this experience will make me higher my standards on the foods I consume in the United States because I eat like trash most of the time. I want to base my opinions on the foods I am exposed to on the taste rather than how it looks. If I shy away from everything in Chile because it looks different, I will probably starve and I am missing the opportunity to broaden my palette.
I was surprised that Chilean wine rivals to tops wine countries in the world, vintage and contemporary, so I would like to try some of that. I hate wine personally because it tastes like rotten fruit to me, but every one that I have tried has also been from Walmart so that may have something to do with it. I also look forward to the seafood options in Chile being that close to the ocean. I would like to try a good seafood soup because soup is bomb and apparently so is Chilean marine life. So far there is nothing that is crossed off the list of things I will try to consume, so hopefully my stomach can handle the adventure it is about to go on.

Haha, I had the same reaction about wine. I hate it, but I realized that I may not be getting the best so I am definitely excited to try them as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was pretty wild about Chile being having some of the best wines in the world! You always here about European wines before Latin American wines so it was shocking on how good they really are. I hate wine but I'm willing to try some!
