On My Way to Chile. . .
The adventure starts
tomorrow and I am freaking out a little bit. My brain it is running and I keep
wondering what I am going to forget to bring because I always forget something.
Do you remember back in elementary school, when reading out loud was the
most stressful part of life? You would look down the rows, see you were
the fifth person, and then skip to the fifth paragraph in the reading.
You study that paragraph and make sure you knew how to say all the words so no
one would tease that you couldn't read. Then the teacher would call on
the next student randomly not going in order of the rows!! That is the feeling
I have about the Chile trip at the moment. I'm scared that all my preparation
will be for nothing because I've studied the wrong. I'm nervous that even
though I've taken Spanish almost every year since the eighth grade, I will step
onto Chilean soil and know absolutely nothing. I wonder if the
scenery and food will be as great as I have pictured in my head. I wonder what
avocado tastes like. I wonder if the sing White Christmas in Chile. Other than
my random thoughts I am pretty much fine. I have finally calmed myself down
about the food and have come to terms that my Spanish won’t be perfect by
tomorrow. I am a little more nervous
about the summer camp than last week. Due to all the blog assignment, I am comfortable
with the country itself, but I feel like I may be the drunk uncle out of all
the camp counselors. I am not an education major, so I don’t know how to teach
little humans anything. The only kid that I am consistently around is my one
year old nephew, and I am just trying to teach him to cover his face when he
sneezes so I can stop getting sick. That is still a work in progress by the
way. I want these kids to finish off the week having had fun and feel like
English is a language worth studying rather than something that they are forced
to learn. If I make one baby friend, then I will be a happy camper.
I am super excited! I can't wait to say CHI-CHI-CHI LE-LE-LE VIVA CHILE!!

ReplyDeleteI am with you on being nervous but excited all at the same time! I really hope I don't forget to bring anything because that would be horrible! Don't be nervous about the camp though! It will definitely be an amazing experience!
ReplyDeleteLooking back on these blog posts it's crazy to think that we did it! We made so many amazing memories and friends, things we can carry with us forever! I'm glad we got the chance to experience this together!
